In pursuance of the recommendations of the Examination Committee duly ratified by the Governing Body of the Board in its meeting held on 18-12-2001, amendments/additions have been made in the following Examination Bye Laws. Amended Examination Bye Laws read as under: -

Rule-14 (ii)- "Shortage upto 15% only may be condoned by the Chairman. Cases of candidates with attendance below 60% in class X or class XII, as the case may be, shall be considered for condonation of shortage of attendance by the Chairman only in exceptional circumstances created on medical grounds, such as candidate suffering from serious diseases like Cancer, Aids, T.B. or any other disease or injury requiring long period of hospitalization."

Rule 24 (iii)- "Dyslexic, Spastic candidates and candidates with visual and hearing impairment have the option of studying one compulsory language as against two. This language should be in consonance with the overall spirit of the Three Language Formula prescribed by the Board. Besides one language any four of the following subjects be offered:

Mathematics, Science, Social Science, another language, Music,
Painting, Home Science and Introductory Information Technology."

Rule 33.2-(i) "Subject to the fulfillment of conditions as given under Clause 33.1, the school itself may be the examination centre, provided:

  1. It presents at least 30 candidates for Class X, if it is affiliated upto secondary stage;
  2. It presents at least 50 candidates for classes X and XII taken together, if it is affiliated upto +2 stage; and
  3. The school should complete two years of its affiliation to the Board"

Rule 42(i)-"A candidate placed in compartment may reappear at the compartmental examination to be held in July/August and may avail himself/herself of the second chance in March/April next year and may further avail himself/herself of the third chance at the compartmental examinations to be held in July/August of that year. The candidate will be declared 'Pass' provided he/she qualifies the compartmental subject/subjects in which he/she had failed."

(ii)-"A candidate who does not appear or fails at one or all the chances of compartment shall be treated to have failed in the examination and shall be required to reappear in all the subjects at the subsequent annual examination of the Board as per syllabi and courses laid down for the examination concerned in order to pass the examination. The candidate shall have the option to appear at the practical examination in the subjects involving practical or retain their previous marks in one more annual examination after the Third Chance Compartment".

This facility of 3rd Chance Compartment Examination would be available to those candidates who are appearing in 2nd Chance Compartment in March 2002 onwards.

Rule 43-"A candidate who has passed the Secondary/Senior School Certificate Examination of the Board may offer an additional subject as a private candidate provided the additional subject is provided in the Scheme of Studies and is offered within FIVE YEARS of passing the examination of the Board. Exemption from time limit may be granted by the Chairman in deserving cases. Facility to appear in additional subject will be available at the annual examination only."

Rule 68-"The candidates will have the option either to mention the mother's name or the father's name or both into the records of the Board (Certificate, Marks Statement etc.)"
All Heads of Schools are requested to take note of the above amendments/additions for guidance of their students.
